The kids are back at school, and I know from experience that a lot of business owners have a ‘back to school’ mentality; they treat it as a new year. They use this time reflect on the year so far and plan for the coming months. A return after the summer, literal or otherwise, offers a renewed vigour for their business.
This is exactly what I am capitalising on at the moment. Although I have been working and networking throughout the summer, it has been a juggling act and routine went out of the window. I fitted working around keeping little people amused, and you may have noticed that my emails were sent late at night or at the crack of dawn over the last 6 weeks!
So what am I going to do under the spell of my ‘back to school’ mental state? The first thing is a time out. In order to look after my family and run my business I need to look after myself first. What does time out look like to me? Firstly, getting some home admin ticked off the list – tidying, organising, restoring a sense of calm and order after chaos. Next there is some relaxation time, and I’ll be heading to the spa.
And what then?
I’m a huge advocate of CPD and over the years I have learnt a variety of new things under the heading of Personal Development, including HR & personnel skills, hypnotherapy and NLP. I have been looking for something new, and an opportunity came my way; over the next few weeks I will be working on business development and mindset. Alongside that, I am adding to my business plan – planning is key for success.
And while I’m working on my business, why not take on a new challenge? And, yes, I have! I’m taking part in a 6 week challenge with Coached by Matt. All round development on this horizon in this quarter– what have you got planned for Autumn?
